Passenger bus crashes into cliff, many dead.
At least six people died and more than 20 were injured when a passenger bus carrying teachers and children from a primary school crashed into a cliff on the Nha Trang - Da Lat route.
According to information from the Traffic Police Department of Khanh Hoa province, the passenger bus involved in the accident was carrying over 30 people and was traveling on the Da Lat - Nha Trang route (Son Thai commune, Khanh Vinh district, Khanh Hoa province). Around 10:00 AM, the bus lost its brakes in the Hon Giao - Khanh Le pass area and crashed into a cliff. At the scene, the front of the bus was completely destroyed, rocks were piled on the driver's area, and both front wheels were broken off and detached.

"The car was involved in a self-inflicted accident. The scene shows no impact from other vehicles," said Le Quang Thanh, Deputy Chief of Police of Khanh Vinh District.
Inside the mangled vehicle, five victims died instantly. More than 20 others were injured, many of them seriously.
An emergency room staff member at the Khanh Vinh District Medical Center said they had received about 15-16 victims, many with head injuries, broken arms, broken legs... including one person who died. In addition, several others were brought to the local clinic where the accident occurred for emergency treatment.
"We have been notified that more victims will be brought here," the female medical officer said.
According to Hoang Hai Tung, the owner of the ill-fated bus, the group consisted of 32 people, including 8 children, all of whom were teachers and children from a primary school in Hoa Phuoc, Da Nang. The bus departed from Da Nang on June 4th for a sightseeing trip to Nha Trang. They traveled to Da Lat on June 5th and were returning to Nha Trang on June 7th when the accident occurred. The bus was scheduled to arrive back in Da Nang the following day.
Ms. Truong Thi Truc, vice principal of Hoa Phuoc 2 Primary School in Hoa Vang, Da Nang, said the school was in turmoil upon receiving the information, and some relatives of the victims and school leaders were urgently looking for flights to Khanh Hoa.
The Hon Giao mountain pass, the highest and longest in Vietnam, runs through communes in Khanh Hoa province, connecting it with Lam Dong province. It is considered a stunningly beautiful but also treacherous mountain pass, often shrouded in fog.
