(Baonghean.vn) -Before causing the horrific mine explosion and his death, Nguyen Sy Tuan had repeatedly brought guns and mines to his sister-in-law's house to threaten her.

Landmine explosion in Quy Chau leaves one person tragically dead.

At noon on July 13th, at the provincial general hospital, Mr. Pham Xuan Ha (47 years old), a victim of the mine explosion, was still in a coma. His wife, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Phuong, who suffered less serious injuries, weakly recounted the horrific explosion amidst the fear of their daughter and those present in the hospital room.

Mr. Pham Xuan Ha and Mr. Nguyen Sy Tuan (46 years old) are brothers-in-law. Tuan's wife is Ms. Phuong's younger sister. For a long time, Tuan has been doing business with Mr. Ha's son, Pham Xuan Hieu (20 years old). The two often pool money to buy bamboo and other forest products in Quy Chau to supply to dealers for profit. Recently, their business has stalled, leading to a conflict between Tuan and his nephew Hieu.

On several occasions, Tuan, drunk, went to his sister-in-law's house to cause trouble and hurl insults. He even brought a detonator to the house to threaten and kill the whole family, but others intervened, preventing any harm from happening. Because they were family, Mr. Ha's family didn't want to make a big deal out of it and didn't report it to the police or local authorities. Seeing this, Tuan became even more aggressive; on one occasion, he even brought a muzzle-loading gun to the house threatening to shoot, but failed.

Ms. Hien, the daughter of Mr. Ha and Mrs. Phuong, recounted the incident in a state of shock.

On the evening of July 12th, as usual, Mrs. Phuong cooked dinner and fed her granddaughter, Pham Thao Anh (6 years old), while she and her husband ate at the table in the middle of the house. Around 7:30 PM, Mrs. Phuong finished eating and went to play with her granddaughter, while Mr. Ha continued eating alone at the table. "It was getting dark when suddenly we heard Tuan knocking on the door and entering the house. As soon as he appeared at the door, my husband and I were terrified to see Tuan pull out a landmine,夹 between his legs, and shout: 'Here's the landmine, Mr. Ha!'" Mrs. Phuong recalled.

At that moment, Mrs. Phuong was so terrified she couldn't say a word, while Mr. Ha could only push Tuan out the door when he saw him detonating the mine. Less than a minute later, a deafening explosion rang out. Mr. Ha was thrown into the corner of the house, Mrs. Phuong was knocked to the ground by the blast, and Nguyen Sy Tuan died instantly, his body crushed, blood splattered all over the floor, walls, and the mess of overturned furniture. Fortunately, Thao Anh was playing on a small chair in the corner of the house and was not affected by the blast.

At this point, the neighbors panicked, ran to call an ambulance, and then contacted the Chau Binh commune police and the Quy Chau district police.
When the incident occurred, Ms. Pham Thi Hien, Mr. Ha's daughter, was in Nghia Dan district. Upon hearing that her house had been bombed, Ms. Hien panicked and intended to rush to Quy Chau, but with the arrangement of relatives, she waited in the dark of night to catch an ambulance to take her parents to Nghe An General Hospital.

“Currently, after the emergency surgery, the doctor said that Dad is out of danger but is still under special observation. Mom Phuong suffered less serious injuries but is still in a state of shock,” Ms. Hien said, hugging her second son, describing her parents' health condition.

Major Vi Xuan Thuy, Deputy Chief of Police of Quy Chau District, said that immediately after the incident occurred, the district police task force was present at the scene and reported to the provincial police. On July 13, the serious crime investigation team of Nghe An Provincial Police arrived to examine the scene and coordinate the investigation of the case. Major Thuy assessed that this is a very serious case, the first of its kind to occur in the district.
