According to Mr. Haike Manning, the New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam, this is a very important project aimed at strengthening development cooperation between Vietnam and New Zealand. Each year, the New Zealand Aid Programme allocates NZ$10 million to Vietnam, focusing on education, agriculture, disaster risk management, and human resource development.
Also on this occasion, the New Zealand government officially announced a $4 million agricultural support project in Tien Giang province. The project will be implemented next year by the New Zealand Institute of Crop and Food Research in collaboration with SOFRI and the Sub-Institute of Agricultural Mechanization and Post-Harvest Technology.
The project aims to develop and commercialize high-value fruit varieties including Zespri kiwi, golden kiwi, and jazz apple, while also creating a new dragon fruit variety and establishing the most efficient production, post-harvest, and commercialization models to increase economic efficiency and income for Vietnamese farmers and businesses.
