On July 3, at the 372nd Air Division (in Da Nang), the Ministry of National Defense held a handover ceremony of the 954th Air Brigade from the Air Defense - Air Force Service (PK-KQ Service) to the Navy and announced the decision to establish the 930th Helicopter Regiment, under the 372nd Division, PK-KQ Service.
The 954th Air Brigade was transferred to the Navy according to Decision No. 2215/QD dated June 25, 2013 of the Minister of National Defense. The 954th Naval Air Brigade performs the following tasks: anti-submarine warfare; military transport; reconnaissance, observation in the air, on land, on water; search and rescue at sea, on land, and rescue, and flood prevention.
The newly established 930 Helicopter Regiment has the mission of flying observation, reconnaissance and direction of targets in the air, on the ground and on the water; performing military transport missions in the Central Highlands and the Southern Gulf of Tonkin; flying special aircraft to serve Party, State and military leaders; participating in search, rescue, flood and storm prevention; being ready to carry out coordinated combat missions to provide air fire support to military forces when ordered...
Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, emphasized: "Today's event marks a step forward in the development of our Army in general and the Navy in particular. From now on, the Navy will have an additional air force."
Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan requested the two units to quickly complete their organization and staffing, and be ready to receive and successfully complete their tasks right from the first days and weeks. They must constantly uphold the spirit of revolutionary vigilance, strictly comply with combat readiness, and strictly follow orders and instructions from superiors; and proactively coordinate closely with other units in the process of carrying out assigned tasks.
