Two individuals arrested for buying, selling, and transporting 5.5 kg of opium.

(Baonghean.vn) - The Narcotics Crime Investigation Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police has successfully cracked case 513P, arresting two suspects involved in buying, selling, and transporting 5.5 kg of opium to the South for consumption.

Through investigative measures, the Drug Crime Investigation Department discovered a drug trafficking ring operating from the mountainous districts of Nghe An province, transporting drugs to the South for consumption. A special case, code-named 513P, was established. After a period of arduous investigation, employing a comprehensive range of investigative techniques, the identities of several suspects and the modus operandi of this drug trafficking ring were initially clarified.

At approximately 8 PM on August 21, 2013, upon receiving information that Tran Huu Duc (born in 1982), residing in Hamlet 5, Nam Cuong Commune, Nam Dan District, Nghe An Province, was in Vinh City to catch a bus to the South, the task force of the Criminal Investigation Department for Drug Crimes, in coordination with several other professional units, quickly deployed its forces.

During the stakeout, the task force spotted Tran Huu Duc carrying a backpack and a sack, and asking an acquaintance to drive him to National Highway 1A to catch a bus. When the suspect reached Nguyen Du Street, Trung Do Ward, Vinh City, the authorities conducted a search. Upon inspection, the task force discovered and seized a package of opium weighing approximately 5.5 kg and other related evidence inside the sack. The suspect was then taken to the police station for questioning.

At the investigative agency, Tran Huu Duc confessed: On August 18, 2013, Duc, along with Tran Kim Hai (born in 1974), from Yen Son, Do Luong, went to Quy Chau district to buy opium. After buying opium from three ethnic minority individuals, Hai handed it over to Duc to take home and hide. While Duc was transporting the opium to Vinh City to catch a bus to the South for sale, he was discovered and arrested by law enforcement. On August 22, 2013, Tran Kim Hai was also arrested. Currently, law enforcement is continuing to investigate and clarify the case to prosecute the suspects according to the law.
