Ceremony for the Installation of the Golden Buddha Statue
(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of July 18th, the Buddhist Association of Nghe An province solemnly organized the ceremony of enshrining the Golden Buddha Statue and cutting the ribbon to inaugurate the Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva Statue at Thuan Hau Pagoda in Bac Thanh commune (Yen Thanh district).
The Golden Buddha Statue (seated statue) at Thuan Hau Pagoda is 2.15 meters tall, made of precious wood, and gilded, placed in the center of the pagoda's main hall; the statue of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, 4 meters tall and weighing 4 tons, is made of a single block of white stone and placed in the center of the pagoda on a 2.5-meter-high reinforced concrete pedestal.
Thuan Hau Pagoda was built in the 15th century on Thung Linh hill in Kim Thanh commune (now Bac Thanh commune), Yen Thanh district. During the reign of Emperor Tu Duc, the pagoda was extensively renovated and rebuilt. During the two wars of resistance against French colonialism and American imperialism, the pagoda served as the headquarters of the government, the Party's operational center (Ho My Xuyen Party branch), a gathering point for troops moving between the North and South, and a storage place for weapons to serve the war.

Having endured numerous historical upheavals and the devastation of war, the pagoda has suffered serious deterioration. In order to restore this historical site, create a tranquil and meditative space, and fulfill the spiritual needs of the people and Buddhist followers, the authorities of Bac Thanh commune and Yen Thanh district have submitted a request to the Provincial People's Committee, the Religious Affairs Department of the Department of Internal Affairs, and the Executive Board of the Nghe An Buddhist Association to allow the restoration of activities at Thuan Hau Pagoda.
Two impoverished families were presented with solidarity housing.
On the occasion of the ceremony of enshrining the Great Buddha Statue and the inauguration of the Buddha statue, the temple presented two solidarity houses to two poor families: the family of Mr. Nguyen Cong Binh, Hamlet 10, Van Thanh Commune, and the family of Ms. Vu Thi Lan, Hamlet 7, Bac Thanh Commune (Yen Thanh District).
