Granting 5 billion to build National Martyrs Cemetery on Road 9

On the afternoon of October 15, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance, authorized by the Central Military Commission and the Minister of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Le Huu Duc, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of National Defense, presented 5 billion VND voluntarily donated by officers and soldiers throughout the army to the Project Mobilization Committee for the construction and upgrading of the National Road 9 Martyrs' Cemetery (phase 2) organized by the Ministry of Finance in coordination with the People's Committee of Quang Tri province.

Also attending the ceremony were comrade Dinh Tien Dung, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Finance and Deputy Ministers of Finance.

Senior Lieutenant General Le Huu Duc handed over 5 billion VND from the Ministry of National Defense to the Project Steering Committee for the construction and upgrading of the National Martyrs' Cemetery on Road 9 (phase 2).

The project to build and upgrade the National Road 9 Memorial Area is the wish of the staff of the National Finance sector, expressing deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs, approved by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province with a total investment of more than 83 billion VND. The project is divided into two phases. Phase 1 of the project was constructed, accepted, handed over and put into use from July 2013, with 10 new construction investment items and renovation and upgrading.

Phase 2 of the project was started by the Ministry of Finance and the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Quang Tri province on July 24, 2013, with the remaining items of the project having been approved, and is expected to be inaugurated on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947/July 27, 2014). The project to build and upgrade the National Road 9 Martyrs' Memorial Area, when completed, will be a high-quality project with beautiful scenery, contributing to warming the hearts of the heroes and martyrs who are resting in peace and their relatives when visiting. It is known that this is a project to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the National Finance sector's tradition (August 28, 1944/August 28, 2014).

Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Le Huu Duc highly appreciated the work of the officers and employees of the National Finance sector in launching a fundraising campaign to implement the project of building and upgrading the National Road 9 Memorial Area. This is an action of great political and social significance, demonstrating the deep gratitude and boundless gratitude of the officers and employees of the National Finance sector towards the martyrs and their families who sacrificed their blood and bones for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. Officers and soldiers throughout the army showed their unity, contributed their efforts and joined hands with the Ministry of Finance to carry out meaningful work for the martyrs, contributing to educating the tradition and morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" of the nation for today's and future generations.
