Opening of Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2013

This year's Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival takes place from September 14-24 (ie August 10-20, Quy Ty year).

On September 21, at the Con Son - Kiep Bac National Special Historical Site, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province held a ceremony to commemorate the 713th death anniversary of national hero Tran Hung Dao (1300 - 2013) and opened the 2013 Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival. Representatives of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province, leaders of several neighboring provinces and thousands of people attended the ceremony.

From early morning, thousands of people in the region and neighboring provinces flocked to attend the Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival. Representative of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Que - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Festival Organizing Committee read a speech commemorating Saint Tran and declared the opening of the festival.

Immediately after the ceremony, there were activities of the festival such as folk games, folk performances, peace praying ceremony and lantern festival, boat racing. In particular, this year the Organizing Committee mobilized hundreds of martial arts students from martial arts schools in the area to participate in reenacting the ancient military festival on Luc Dau river, with beautiful martial arts performances and dozens of boats decorated like warships simulating the ancient rehearsal scene, recalling the heroic victory on Bach Dang river years ago.

Con Son - Kiep Bac has significance and importance in the country's history; demonstrating the great contributions of the Truc Lam Zen sect, of the Third Patriarch Huyen Quang Venerable to the cause of building and defending the country, and national pride.

With its special values, the Con Son - Kiep Bac relic site was ranked as a national relic by the State in 1962; in 2012 it was ranked as a special national relic and the Con Son - Kiep Bac festival, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism officially recognized the Con Son spring festival and the Kiep Bac autumn festival as national intangible cultural heritage.
