Speaking at a joint press conference after the talks, Premier Li Keqiang said the talks would "inject new momentum and vitality into China-India relations."
This leader assessed that the two countries have more common interests than disagreements, so the governments and people of the two countries can handle border disputes well.
Li Keqiang expressed hope that the border dispute would not affect the overall relationship between the two countries, and asked the special envoys of each side on the border issue to maintain communication and discuss reasonable and fair solutions. The Chinese Prime Minister stressed that the Border Agreement will help maintain peace and stability in the border area.
In addition to the border agreement, China and India also signed eight other agreements, including one on enhancing transport cooperation.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in Beijing on the evening of October 22, for a three-day official visit to China. This is the second high-level visit between the two countries after Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's visit to India in May, and also the first time since 1954 that the two countries' Prime Ministers visited each other in the same year.
After holding talks with Li Keqiang, Singh will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and National People's Congress Chairman Zhang Dejiang.
Prime Minister Singh will also deliver a speech at the Central Party School of the Communist Party of China./.
