Construction of Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway

On the morning of November 24, in Ha Trung village, Tinh Ha commune, Son Tinh district, Quang Ngai province, the Vietnam Expressway Corporation started construction of the A4 construction package (a component funded by the World Bank) of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway Construction Project. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and gave the groundbreaking order.

The Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway project is part of the North - South Expressway route approved for investment by the Ministry of Transport with a total length of 140km.

The project is designed according to the standards of a four-lane highway with a speed of 120km/h, a class A highway, a roadbed width of 26m (with two lanes reserved for expansion to six lanes when completed), and an asphalt concrete road surface. The project includes bridges, intersections, underpasses, drainage culverts, and underground works. Synchronously build a traffic safety system, trees, lighting, etc. with a total investment of 1,472 million USD.

The A4 construction package alone (section through Binh Son and Son Tinh districts, Quang Ngai province) has a total length of 14.6km. The package includes 1 intersection with National Highway 24B, 8 large bridges, civil underpasses and drainage items... with a winning bid price of over 1,294 billion VND won by LOTTE Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. (Korea), construction period of 36 months...

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, spoke and affirmed: The project will promote socio-economic development, especially connecting and developing strongly the economic zones of Chu Lai, Dung Quat Nhon Hoi and linking to support security - defense and expanding the East-West corridor in transporting goods to the central ports. The project also contributes to reducing traffic accidents, preventing floods and continuously improving the lives of people in the central region in general and Quang Ngai in particular.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested that local authorities carry out well the work of site clearance, resettlement and ensure a stable life for people in the project area. Investors, contractors and consultants must fully perform their functions and fulfill their commitments to complete the construction of Package A4 of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway Project on schedule and with high quality...

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited and presented gifts to five households whose houses were completely collapsed and swept away by the recent floods in Nghia Ky commune, Tu Nghia district and Tinh Ha commune, Son Tinh district...

At the groundbreaking ceremony, the investor and the capital sponsor (WB) also supported the people in the flood-hit area in Quang Ngai with 200 million VND...
