Manchester United, Real and PSG win tickets to the knockout round

Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have become the next three names to win tickets to the knockout round of the Champions League, after the group stage matches took place early this morning, November 28.

The Red Devils secured top spot in Group A after an incredible 5-0 win over Leverkusen in Germany. Manchester United's goals came from Luis Antonio Valencia, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling and Nani, with their other goal coming from an own goal by Leverkusen's Emir Spahic.

With this victory, Manchester United has officially entered the knockout round, with 11 points in hand, while pushing Leverkusen down to 3rd place with 4 points less and facing the risk of being eliminated from this year's Champions League.

In the same match, Shakhtar Donetsk easily won 4-0 against Real Sociedad, thereby climbing to second place with 8 points and they will decide their "fate" at Old Trafford in the final round.

Along with Manchester United, Real Madrid also completed the mission with a resounding 4-1 victory over Galatasaray - the team they had crushed 6-1 on the opening day of this year's Champions League.

Gareth Bale, Alvaro Arbeloa, Angel Di Maria and Isco were responsible for scoring for Cristiano Ronaldo - who was unable to participate in this match due to injury. Meanwhile, Galatasaray only got an honorary goal from Umut Bulut.

In the same match, after matches of only knowing draws and losses, Juventus finally knew the taste of victory when defeating Copenhagen 3-1, thereby climbing to 2nd place on the rankings with 6 points.

With this victory, Juventus only need to draw with Galatasaray (4 points) in the final match to follow Real Madrid into the round of 16 best teams.

In Group C, Paris Saint-Germain also booked their place in the knockout stages after a 2-1 win over Olympiakos. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edison Cavani scored for the French capital team.

The remaining ticket in the group will be a competition between Olympiakos and Benfica - the team that defeated Anderlecht 3-2.

However, Olympiakos is the team that holds the power to decide. The Greek team only needs to beat Anderlecht in the final round to qualify because of their better head-to-head record than Benfica.

In Group D, Bayern Munich and Manchester City took turns crushing CSKA Moscow and Plzen in procedural matches.

Thus, after the 5th round of matches, the Champions League knockout round has determined 8 names: Manchester United (group A), Real Madrid (B), Paris Saint-Germain (C), Bayern Munich, Manchester City (D), Chelsea (E), Atletico Madrid (G) and Barcelona (H)./.
