According to VAMA's sales report, 8,067 Toyota Fortuner units were sold, including both gasoline and diesel versions, making it the best-selling car model in Vietnam last year.

In 2013, nearly 96,700 vehicles were sold. This figure excludes products from companies not yet members of VAMA, such as Hyundai Thanh Cong, Nissan Vietnam, Audi, BMW, and Porsche. The list also includes models currently in production or on sale, not counting models that have been discontinued or transferred to other partners.

Toyota Fortuner - the best-selling model in the Vietnamese market in 2013.

If we consider only the gasoline version, 5,518 Fortuner units have already been sold. Last year also saw Toyota Vietnam introduce the new Fortuner with a 2.5G diesel version featuring a new turbocharged engine with higher power output. Primarily aimed at stimulating mid-cycle sales, the Fortuner didn't undergo many exterior changes but added some new features such as rear parking sensors, seatbelt tensioners for emergency situations, and speed-sensitive automatic door locking.

The shift in the title of best-selling car from Innova to Fortuner reflects a continued preference for multi-purpose vehicles that can carry many people and are suitable for various terrains.

Coming in second is another Toyota product: the Innova. Including all versions, a total of 6,014 Innova units were delivered to customers. Of these, 4,189 were Innova E models priced at 705 million VND. The top-of-the-line Innova V version sold for 814 million VND.

Toyota remains the most popular brand with 5 models in the Top 5. The Camry's superiority over its younger siblings, the Altis and Vios, is due to bulk sales contracts with government agencies.

Kia Picanto - a popular small car in Vietnam.

The Picanto accounted for a significant portion of Thako Kia's product lineup, with a total of 3,652 units sold, the majority being manual transmission models. Meanwhile, Altis's competitor, the Forte/K3, achieved 2,712 units, half that number. The recent boom in Korean cars has brought Kia a reputation, but the company still has much to do to truly surpass its Japanese rival.

The Ford Ranger also had impressive sales figures, with a total of 1,834 vehicles sold, including both 4x4 and 2x2 versions.

For Honda, the biggest contributor to sales was the CR-V crossover, priced over 1 billion VND. Including both the 2.0 AT and 2.4 AT versions, 2,176 units were sold. However, the City, a model that only launched last year, deserves significant credit. Including both manual and automatic versions, the total reached 1,474 units, with 1,208 of those being automatic. The City is assembled by Honda Vietnam and was priced at 540 million VND at launch, increasing by 10 million VND from December 13, 2013.

Sales of VAMA members in 2013 increased by 20% compared to 2012, but did not exceed the 100,000 vehicles projected by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association.
