Salvia miltiorrhiza is good for women and people with heart disease.

Ancient texts record the following about Salvia miltiorrhiza:

"Salvia miltiorrhiza has a bitter taste and is slightly cooling in nature. It acts on the heart and liver meridians and is a blood-related medicine used for women before and after childbirth, regardless of whether their menstrual flow is heavy or light. It has the effect of expelling blood stasis, generating new blood, both stabilizing the pregnancy and expelling a dead fetus, stopping bleeding, and regulating menstruation. Its effects are comparable to the Four-Ingredient Formula – consisting of Angelica sinensis, Rehmannia glutinosa, Ligusticum chuanxiong, and Paeonia lactiflora (according to Li Shizhen's *Compendium of Materia Medica*). It also has effects in treating boils, carbuncles, and itching."

Do not use if there is no evidence of blood stasis.

Uses of Salvia miltiorrhiza

- Reduces microcirculatory disorders, dilates small arteries and veins, and capillaries, increasing microcirculation.

- Reduces the severity of myocardial infarction. Injecting tanshinon II sodium sulfonate, in which tanshinon II is an active ingredient of Salvia miltiorrhiza, into the coronary artery reduces acute myocardial infarction. The size of the ischemic area disappears or is significantly reduced.

- Stabilizes red blood cell membranes and increases red blood cell resistance thanks to the tanshinone II sodium sulfonate derivative.

- It inhibits platelet aggregation and prevents thrombosis thanks to the active compounds miltiron and salvinon in Salvia miltiorrhiza.

- Protects the heart muscle, counteracting functional and metabolic disorders caused by oxygen deficiency.

- It acts as an antioxidant, eliminating free radicals that are harmful to the body.
