Short Film Gala 2013 broadcast on the evening of the first day of Tet

According to Vietnam Television, the 2013 Short Film Gala will be broadcast at 9:00 p.m. on January 31 (the first day of Tet) on VTV6 channel of Vietnam Television.

Rarely appearing in cinemas, not receiving massive investment in terms of budget or public relations strategy, short films have been mentioned a lot in the media in recent years, leaving strong impressions on young audiences.

What makes short films so appealing? What is the overall view of Vietnamese short films in 2013? Are short films in season or showing signs of decline?... These are the topics discussed in the Short Film Gala 2013.

Attending the 2013 Short Film Gala are four guests who have been and are "burning" themselves out for short films. They are director Phan Dang Di, a Vietnamese who holds the record for international awards for short films; Do Quoc Trung and Luk Van - two 9X directors whose short films have caused a stir on the online community; and actress Thanh Van with her role in the short film "Già ư."

The 2013 Short Film Gala brought a fresh and dynamic look to this film genre. With about 10 competitions held during the year such as: Yxine, 1-2-3 action! Golden Kite, SCI-FI..., many young people had the opportunity to get closer to their dream of making films, to introduce themselves to professionals as well as the public. Many new faces won high awards with their first works such as Dang Viet Duc with the film "Pandora's Box," Phan Nha Trang with "Spring Memories," and Nguyen Trong Khoi with the film "Nothing Precious."

Within the framework of the 2013 Short Film Gala, Vietnam Television also introduced two new Tet short films: "The Legend of Banh Tet" (comedy by 5Films group) and "The Last Day of Winter" (drama, directed by Le Ha Nguyen).

On this occasion, the short film “Hanoi, I love you” by female director Luk Van will receive the 2013 Audience Favorite Award./.
