The travel section of Italy's leading daily newspaper, La Repubblica, has just published a long article introducing to Italian readers the beauty of Vietnam, from "Ha Long Bay to the Mekong Delta, between rice fields and memories, between diverse and rich nature and the desire for modernization."

The article takes readers on a tour of what the author highlights as the highlights of a country "with more than 3,000 kilometers of coastline, UNESCO heritage sites and an economic boom among Asia's new tigers."

Hanoi appears with its pagodas and lakes; Sa Pa is a weekend rendezvous after a night on the train with ethnic minorities, with terraced fields and if lucky, Italian tourists can spend the night in a H'mong family; Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO heritage, with thousands of islands and "legendary beauty" is a place not to be missed, while Tam Coc, with its caves in the mountains, "where the only sound is the sound of water falling from stalactites to the water surface" is also an indispensable destination in the travel itinerary in the North.

The author also takes readers to Hoi An, another UNESCO heritage site in Vietnam, with its ancient quarters that have been preserved for centuries and were not damaged during the war, including "food stalls, grocery stores, handicrafts," but not far from there are "rice fields with farmers working."

After Hoi An, the article wrote about Mui Ne, "famous for its red sand dunes and a kilometer-long coastline," and about the Mekong Delta, Vietnam's rice bowl.

The author recommends that Italian tourists spend more time in this area to visit Can Tho and Cai Rang floating market.

The article ends with a description of Ho Chi Minh City, the final destination on the Vietnam tour.

According to the author, this city is a large metropolis with 8 million people, a mix of ancient temples, multi-storey shopping malls, shops selling everything and a world of motorbikes on busy streets in a life of constant movement./.
