Inauguration of 4 statues of General Nguyen Chi Thanh in his hometown

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of General Nguyen Chi Thanh's birth (January 1, 1914 - January 1, 2014), on the morning of December 30, Thua Thien-Hue province held an inauguration ceremony and received four statues of General Nguyen Chi Thanh donated by the General's family.

At the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of National Defense, representing General Nguyen Chi Thanh's family, presented two granite statues (including a 2m high standing statue and a 1.2m high sitting statue) placed at the General's Memorial Site in his hometown, Niem Pho village, Quang Tho commune, Quang Dien district, Thua Thien - Hue.

The remaining two statues are located at Nguyen Chi Thanh High School campus, in Sia town, Quang Dien district and Nguyen Chi Thanh Political School, Thua Thien - Hue province.

On this occasion, General Nguyen Chi Thanh's family presented the Learning Promotion Association of Primary School No. 1 (Quang Tho Commune, Quang Dien District) and Nguyen Chi Thanh Scholarship Fund with 100 million VND; Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development (BIDV) also presented 20 sets of computers to Nguyen Chi Thanh Secondary School and Primary School No. 1.

Mr. Phan Tien Dung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thua Thien - Hue province, said that he will coordinate with Quang Dien district to continue to preserve and effectively promote the value of the General Nguyen Chi Thanh Memorial Site, worthy of the position, stature and great contributions of the General to the revolutionary cause of the nation and his homeland, Thua Thien - Hue.

At the same time, build the General's memorial site into a red address in educating the young generation about patriotism and revolutionary traditions.
