(Baonghean) - At the end of the year, when spring production has not yet begun, ethnic minorities in the highlands take advantage of their free time to enthusiastically build new rural roads, with the motto "The State and the people work together".

In Lien Dinh village (Tam Quang commune, Tuong Duong district), the way of building new rural roads here is different from other localities, that is, people do not have to contribute money, but only by working days, so the atmosphere of building roads here is very enthusiastic and bustling.

Village chief Vi Dinh Thich enthusiastically said: Lien Dinh village has 61 households of Thai ethnic group. The people's lives are still very difficult, but when it comes to the state providing cement to pour concrete on the village road, everyone enthusiastically supports. Because up to now, the people's travel has been very difficult, especially in the rainy season, the road is landslide, slippery, children go to school very difficult. Before starting to build the concrete road, the village held many meetings, reaching an agreement: The state supports 100% of the cement, the remaining materials are sand, gravel and labor days contributed by the people. For the road surface, it is guaranteed to be 3 m wide, the concrete part is 2 m wide, so any section that does not meet that criterion, the households are willing to donate land. Due to the poor economic conditions of the people, the village agreed that each person contributes 1 inch of sand and gravel. With Nam San stream right in front of the village, the young people in the village gathered to scoop sand and gravel to the shore, while the women and the elderly used all kinds of rudimentary tools to transport and gather the sand and gravel to the necessary location. When the cement was transported to the village, the people gathered their manpower, each household had to have at least one person participating in mixing the concrete, and those who knew how to work as a worker were in charge of the technical part.

Among the crowd of people enthusiastically working on the road, we saw some old people still shoveling sand and gravel with their children and grandchildren. Old lady Lo Thi Phong, toothless: “I was born in 1940, my health is very weak, but seeing my children and grandchildren excitedly working on the road, I came out to join in for fun. I have been attached to the villagers for almost my whole life, now I see that the road is built like this, it is beautiful and sturdy, my children and grandchildren can now ride motorbikes and bicycles easily!”

With the support of cement from the state, this time Tam Quang commune assigned Lien Dinh and Tung Huong villages (2 neighboring villages) to pour concrete on the 420m long inter-village road, the road surface is designed to be 2m wide and 14cm thick. With the efforts of the people, this Lunar New Year, the villagers will be able to travel on a clean and beautiful concrete road.

In Muong Ham village (Chau Cuong commune, Quy Hop), the atmosphere of building new rural roads is no less active and bustling. Village chief Le Van Sanh said: The village has nearly 3 km of internal roads, but this time the state supported cement to pour concrete for 900 m long. People agreed to contribute money to buy sand and gravel, contributing each section. To build these 900 m, people in the village contributed 300 thousand VND/household, and the people did the work themselves, so there was no reduction in materials, ensuring the thickness and width as designed.

This year, Chau Cuong commune received support from the state for cement to pour concrete on 2 km of road, divided into 4 villages: Ha Dong, Muong Ham, Nhoi village and Nguong village. With the spirit and high responsibility of each person, Chau Cuong commune strives to complete the assigned target of pouring concrete on the road surface this year, before entering the spring crop production.

In Tan Ky district at the end of this year, the traffic movement is also busy. This year, Tan Ky received cement support from the state to pour concrete on 25 km of inter-village roads in 10 communes. But up to this point, the localities have only received 1,500 tons of cement, and have poured concrete on 7.5 km of type A rural roads. Nghia Binh commune received cement support from the state to pour 3 km of inter-village roads at the end of this year. By the end of December, the locality had cleared the traffic, and some hamlets had contributed money to buy sand and gravel, gathering them in piles on both sides of the road. Nghia Binh commune's goal is to complete pouring 3 km of concrete roads before Tet, creating conditions for people to travel to produce spring crops and enjoy Tet!
