On the afternoon of February 27, the National Children's Hospital inaugurated the Center for pediatric endoscopic surgery using robots.

This is the first hospital in the country to have this center. It is known that the hospital has performed 8 robotic laparoscopic surgeries on pediatric patients and all were successful. With this success, Vietnam is the first country in Asia to successfully perform robotic surgery on pediatric patients, because this surgery method has been applied in many countries but mainly on adults.

And it can be said that endoscopic surgery for pediatric patients using robots in Vietnam is the basis to affirm the position of pediatric endoscopic surgery in our country in the international arena.

With robotic endoscopic surgery, thanks to the 3D spatial image, the surgeon can observe deeper and more accurately than the 2D spatial image of conventional surgery. The robot reduces the effect of hand tremors. In particular, the robot's instruments have flexible mobile joints that make it easy to perform suturing movements.

Robots help perform movements that require 180-degree rotation of the wrist, such as in pyeloplasty, which is almost impossible with conventional laparoscopic surgery. Robot-controlled surgical instruments can flexibly maneuver into the smallest cavities, so robotic laparoscopic surgery is especially useful for lymph node dissection during abdominal or thoracic cancer surgery. Robotic surgery also has the advantage of being able to carefully review each surgical step before surgery, helping to perfect the surgery.
