(Baonghean.vn) -On February 25th, the People's Committee of Anh Son district held a meeting to summarize the work on forest fire prevention and flood control in 2013 and to implement tasks for 2014.

The total area of ​​natural forest in Anh Son is 60,299.90 hectares, of which 35,550.9 hectares are forest land and 31,388 hectares are forested land. This includes 254.7 hectares of planted forest.

Over the past year, the district and relevant agencies have directed communes and forest owners to develop specific plans at the district level and 21 plans at the commune and forest owner levels. They have also organized the establishment of forest fire prevention and control forces at the grassroots level. The district has strengthened and reorganized the command committee for urgent forest protection and fire prevention issues, comprising 22 members, and established 21 forest fire prevention and control command committees at the commune and forest owner levels with 414 members. They have also established 21 platoons with 663 members and 151 village teams with 1797 members. They have conducted awareness campaigns and organized forest fire prevention and control warnings reaching all citizens.

In 2014, Anh Son district focused on consolidating and strengthening the command structure; enhancing inspection work; organizing training and drills for forest fire fighting; organizing the signing of commitments to protect forests and prevent forest fires; maintaining a system of forest fire inspection and warning information; and organizing a 24/7 standby force, requiring village heads to mobilize local forces upon detecting forest fires.

Also at this conference, Anh Son district reorganized its flood and storm prevention command committee and decided to assign tasks to local authorities and departments to develop flood and storm prevention plans.
