By 2020, Vietnam Airlines Corporation will have 140 to 150 aircraft, of which 70 to 80 will be owned. |
This strategy also proposes to urgently open air routes and increase passenger and cargo transport capacity on long-range routes to Europe, North America, Latin America and Africa; encourage investors to develop regional transit airports and have policies to attract airlines to open long-range routes to transit ports;
At the same time, promote the development of cargo development services and form a separate cargo flight network, encourage investors to develop a regional cargo transit airport in Chu Lai and have preferential mechanisms to attract airlines to open cargo flights to this port.
Regarding the strategic orientation for the development of civil aviation transport, the total number of aircraft expected by 2020 is 190 to 210, of which the Aviation Corporation will have 140 to 150 (owning 70 to 80). By 2030, Vietnamese airlines will have about 230 to 250 aircraft (owning over 50%).
To implement the above strategies, the industry will continue to invest in and upgrade the flight management infrastructure system, taxiways, parking lots, and terminals to improve the efficiency of operating existing airports, with priority given to expanding and upgrading Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai, Cat Bi, Phu Bai, Da Nang, and Cam Ranh international airports, while quickly constructing phase 1 of Long Thanh International Airport.
