Reason for Chairman Truong's withdrawal from the tournament: V. Ninh Binh players involved in match-fixing in the AFC Cup.

It wasn't a coincidence or a spur-of-the-moment decision; Chairman Truong decided to suspend V. Ninh Binh FC from both the AFC Cup and the V-League because some players were involved in alleged match-fixing in the game against Kelantan (Malaysia) on March 18th.

In the match played on March 18th away from home, V. Ninh Binh fell behind 2-1 to the home team Kelantan, but in the second half, coach Nguyen Van Sy's team staged a spectacular comeback to win 3-2.

After receiving information suggesting wrongdoing, Chairman Truong requested the investigative agency to verify the allegations.

The investigation has been ongoing for a considerable period, starting immediately after the team returned from Malaysia, and preliminary results were obtained on April 10th.

According to initial information, 13 players (both starters and substitutes) from V. Ninh Binh have been summoned by the investigating agency to clarify suspicions.

In an interview with the press, Chairman Truong stated: "Dissolving the club to bring integrity to Vietnamese football is my greatest success since I started investing in football. And I also want to clarify that this is a case, a special investigation being conducted by the Ministry of Public Security's investigative agency, not just a suspected case."

I want to expand the investigation to uncover more players involved in match-fixing. For now, the players involved in the wrongdoing are not allowed to leave the team; they must report to the police station in the morning to give their statements and return to the club in the evening.”

Initially, the 13 suspected players returned a total of 800 million VND to the investigating authorities.
