At the 2014 VTV Cup International Women's Volleyball Tournament, in addition to host Vietnam, there were five other invited teams: Australia, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Thailand, and Yunnan (China).

Immediately following the brief opening ceremony was the opening match between host nation Vietnam and Thailand. The Vietnamese women's team, with a core of young players such as Le Thanh Thuy (born in 1995), Ha Ngoc Dien (1994), Le Thi Hong (1996), and Tran Thi Thanh Thuy (1997), played with great effort and determination.

ĐT Việt Nam đã thua Thái Lan sau 3 set trắng
The Vietnamese national team lost to Thailand in three straight sets.

However, against the experienced and well-trained Thai women's team, the Vietnamese women's team was unable to take the initiative. As a result, we lost all three sets with scores of 20-25, 18-25, and 15-25. Most regrettably, in the first set, our female players performed very well and constantly chased the Thai players. In the remaining two sets, due to a lack of mental fortitude, the Vietnamese women's team quickly lost to their opponents.

The fundamental reason for the Vietnamese women's team's defeat is that the young players haven't yet found common ground, and their first-touch and second-pass skills are not yet refined. However, with the round-robin format, the Vietnamese women's team's chances of advancing to the next round won't be significantly affected if they win tomorrow's match against Yunnan (China) at 3:30 PM.
