Supervising fire prevention and control work at Nghe An Petroleum Company.

(Baonghean.vn) -As part of the plan to monitor fire prevention and fighting work in the province, on the morning of April 21st, the Legal Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council conducted a monitoring visit at the Nghe An Petroleum Company. Representatives from the Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Police Department of the Provincial Police also participated in the monitoring delegation.

The inspection team is monitoring fire prevention and control work at the fuel depot in Cua Lo town.

Nghe An Petroleum Company is a business entity dealing in regulated commodities including gasoline, lubricants, liquefied petroleum gas, and other petroleum products. Therefore, it places very high demands on fire prevention and control in its production and business operations. In practice, throughout its business operations, Nghe An Petroleum Company has always focused on disseminating information and raising awareness of fire prevention and control among its staff and workers throughout the system. The company equips its employees with fire prevention and control skills to promptly handle fire and explosion incidents through annual fire drills.

At its warehouses and retail outlets selling gasoline and liquefied petroleum gas, the company has invested in building fixed fire extinguishing systems and equipping them with mobile fire fighting equipment such as vehicles, mobile pumps, fire extinguishers, fire-fighting sand, foam solutions, etc. Annually, the company spends hundreds of millions of VND on fire prevention and control activities such as professional training for employees; fire drills; and equipment investments. The company pays close attention to inspection, supervision, and correction of violations of fire prevention and control regulations at its warehouses and retail outlets. As a result, the company did not experience any fires or explosions in 2012-2013.

The company's leaders reported to the delegation on fire prevention and control measures.

However, this is a business sector with a high risk of fire and explosion, and because the business outlets are spread out, inspection and supervision are not timely or frequent enough. Customer awareness of fire safety regulations at gas stations and fuel outlets remains limited.

In conclusion, the inspection team highly appreciated the company's fire prevention and control efforts, and requested the company to continue to focus on promoting awareness among employees and customers to ensure strict compliance with fire safety regulations; and to strengthen coordination with relevant agencies, units, and localities to ensure absolute safety in the company's production and business operations. The company's recommendations will be compiled and reported to the relevant departments for resolution.
