Building a "hospital for plants"
The Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS) is collaborating with the Centre for Agricultural Biology International (CABI) to expand the "Plant Hospital" project.
With these "plant hospitals," farmers now have a place to take their plants for examination, treatment, and proper advice on pesticides.

According to VAAS, instead of farmers previously going to pesticide stores to buy whatever pesticides the store owner recommended when they saw diseases in their crops, the establishment of 20 "crop hospitals" in four provinces—Hung Yen, Vinh Phuc, Tien Giang, and Ben Tre—has helped farmers detect many diseases and treat them effectively.
In Hung Yen and Vinh Phuc provinces, VAAS has established five "plant hospitals," each with two doctors, with regular check-ups on the 5th and 25th of each month. The establishment of these "plant hospitals" has helped farmers shift from purely plant protection activities to a more specialized approach to plant health.
Currently, the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture also has a training program for plant doctors.
