Common mistakes when painting nails
Nail painting is one of the most popular beauty treatments. However, achieving the desired beautiful manicure isn't simple, as the process involves many meticulous steps. Many people may have made the following common mistakes.

1. Painting nails while they are still dirty.
Any dirt, moisture, or old nail polish can prevent new nail polish from adhering properly. Therefore, to improve adhesion, use an old toothbrush dampened with a little hand soap to clean the edges and corners of your nails – areas where oil from the skin tends to accumulate.
2. Do not wipe the nail surface.
Using a cotton pad or cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover to clean the nail surface is an essential preparatory step before applying nail polish. If there is still a lot of oil secreted by the skin on the nails, the polish will not adhere properly. Nail polish remover containing pure acetone helps to clean off old polish faster. However, if your nails are dry, you can choose a type without acetone.
3. Skip the base coat.
You need to apply a base coat before applying the remaining layers of polish to your nails. The base coat is usually thin and highly adhesive; it not only protects the nails but also helps the other polishes adhere better, resulting in a more vibrant color.

4. Incorrect painting technique
For each coat of nail polish, you need to apply three strokes. The first stroke should be applied to the center of the nail in a straight line from the inside out, and the remaining two strokes should cover the edges. Then, wait about 2 minutes before applying the second coat. However, you shouldn't apply too thick a coat because the thicker the coat, the more likely it is to chip.

5. No paint coating.
A top coat protects the nail polish from fading and chipping too quickly. Additionally, it adds shine to freshly painted nails.

6. Neglecting to care for your nails after applying nail polish.
This is a common habit among people who like to paint their fingernails and toenails. Beautiful manicures are often neglected until the paint chips and is replaced with a new style. However, with proper care, they can last longer. Regularly use a top coat to protect the color and keep your nails bright and shiny.
In addition, it's important to keep your nails well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water, using massage oil, trimming cuticles and excess skin, and applying hand moisturizer daily.
