(Baonghean) - Living far from home and studying, with many difficulties, I have always been an excellent student for 12 consecutive years. In particular, in the 2013-2014 school year, I won first prize in Math, second prize in Chemistry and Physics in the provincial excellent student competition for grade 12.

That is Le Thi Thu Van, a 12th grade student at Quy Chau Ethnic Boarding High School. Her father is a forestry worker and her mother is a freelance worker, so from a young age, witnessing her parents working hard and struggling with the arid land to raise her and her sister, Van has always been aware of the need to strive to be good and study well so as not to disappoint her parents. Due to special circumstances, at the age of 13, she had to leave her family to board and study in Tan Lac Town (Quy Chau). For a 7th grader, that was a really difficult start.

But with her determination, the little student has gone through scorching summers, freezing winters and even sad, lonely moments to go to school to learn. “Once, I was sick for several weeks, and I just wanted to go home. But I was afraid that my parents would worry more, so I stopped. As for cooking and laundry, I got used to it. At home, my parents had to work harder to earn money to support me to study,” Van shared.

Also from that mature thinking, Van is always a good child, a good student, a good grandchild of Uncle Ho. Van is good at all subjects but is most passionate about natural sciences: Math - Physics - Chemistry. During the 3 years of high school, she was always a top student, in the natural sciences excellent student team of Quy Chau Ethnic Minority High School. In the provincial excellent student competitions, she brought back many "sweet fruits" for herself and the school. In the 2012 - 2013 school year, Van won second prize in the Nghe An Province Physics Olympiad. In the 2013 - 2014 school year, Van won a double with first prize in Math, second prize in Chemistry and Physics in the provincial excellent student competition.

Talking to us about the ability to study well in natural subjects, especially for a female student, Van shared that each subject has its own characteristics, such as Physics which is closely related to reality; Chemistry requires grasping both theoretical and experimental aspects. But the most basic thing is still to study and master knowledge of Mathematics. Because it is the foundation subject of the remaining natural subjects. During the learning process, I focus on listening to teachers' lectures to master the knowledge, in addition, when I go home, I have to be proactive, positive, persistent in practicing, and learning more from friends.

Ms. Ho Thi Thao - Principal of Quy Chau Ethnic Minority High School said: "Although studying far from home, life is difficult and hard, Van is very obedient and has never missed school. She is very active in school and class movements. Van deserves to be an example for other students in the school to learn and follow." With those achievements in training and studying, in the recent 3-year review of the implementation of Directive 03 of the Politburo on continuing to study and follow the moral example of Ho Chi Minh, Le Thi Thu Van was one of 18 typical examples awarded by the Standing Committee of Quy Chau District Party Committee.

As for Van, being recognized as a typical example is both an honor and a motivation for the next stage of learning to realize her dream of becoming a doctor to help and treat the poor people in the remote areas of Quy Chau. “I think, for young people like us, studying and following Uncle Ho is an effort to study to establish oneself, build a career, and become a useful person for society. In the near future, I am trying very hard to systematize and update my knowledge to pass the entrance exam to medical university in the upcoming university entrance exam,” Van shared.
