(Baonghean.vn) -Recently, Vinh City has seen a series of robberies targeting women on the streets. The perpetrators take advantage of victims' carelessness, often carrying handbags, approaching them closely and snatching the bags containing money, gold, mobile phones, and other valuables.

For example, on January 17, 2014, Ms. Cao Thi Kim Loan (born in 1983), residing in Hung Loc commune, Vinh City, was walking on Nguyen Phong Sac street (Vinh City) when two young men snatched her handbag containing 7 million VND in cash and some related documents.

Faced with this situation, the Criminal Police Team of Vinh City Police Department established special case 0414G to combat and dismantle the gang. After a period of investigation, verification, and screening of suspected individuals, the police force identified a gang of robbers led by Vuong Quoc Tuan (born in 1995, residing in My Ha hamlet, Hung Loc commune, Vinh City). Although only 19 years old, Tuan had dropped out of school long ago because he couldn't even complete the 7th grade and lacked a stable job. His parents found him various jobs, but he would quit after a few days, finding another one later. This didn't motivate Tuan to work; instead, he preferred a life of leisure and extravagance. Despite his parents' advice and guidance, Tuan continued his bad habits.

After closely monitoring the suspects' movements, at 5 PM on April 13th, the police apprehended Vuong Quoc Tuan just after he had committed a robbery against Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai (born in 1946), residing in Trung Yen Hamlet, Hung Dung Ward (Vinh City). Through further investigation, the police arrested Dau Van Thien (born in 1988), residing in Nghi Phuong Commune, Nghi Loc District, and Nguyen Huu Hung (born in 1989), temporarily residing in Duc Tho Hamlet, Hung Loc District, Vinh City. A search of Hung's house yielded 7 wallets and handbags, and 5 mobile phones, which were the proceeds of the robberies.

The suspects confessed that, since the end of 2013, due to their dissolute lifestyle and lack of work, Tuan and Thien had discussed and agreed that Tuan would use his family's Exiter motorbike and Thien's Sirus motorbike (with the license plates removed) to carry Thien to rob people on the streets of Vinh City. To prevent victims from shouting for help and chasing them, they kept a 1-meter-long iron sword hidden on the side of the motorbike for self-defense. Nguyen Huu Hung participated as an accomplice.

Initially, Tuan brought his motorbike to Hung's motorbike repair shop in Duc Tho hamlet, Hung Loc commune (in front of Nghe An Pedagogical College), and asked Hung to remove the license plate. Hung asked Tuan why he wanted to remove the license plate, and Tuan candidly replied that he wanted to use it to commit robberies and promised to share some of the proceeds with Hung. Knowing Tuan's intentions, Hung not only didn't stop him but also agreed to remove the license plate for Tuan. After committing the robberies, as promised, Tuan and Thien gave Hung a small share, keeping the rest for personal expenses.

After nearly four months of working together, Tuan and Thien committed a total of 15 robberies in Hung Dung and Hung Loc districts. Tuan alone committed 10 of them. On some days, they committed three robberies in a row. This incident serves as a warning to the public to be vigilant and protect their property, preventing criminals from exploiting vulnerabilities and committing crimes. Anyone who has been a victim of these robberies should report to the Vinh City Police Department so that the police can complete the case file.

On April 17, 2014, the Vinh City Police initiated criminal proceedings and temporarily detained Vuong Quoc Tuan, Dau Duc Thien, and Nguyen Huu Hung for the crime of robbery. They are currently completing the necessary paperwork to promptly process the suspects according to the law.
