Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, whose alias is Bach Lien, was born in the year of the Monkey (1884), in Hoang Tru village, Lam Thinh commune, Nam Dan district, Nghe An (now Tru 1 hamlet, Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district). She was born and raised in a family of Confucian scholars of peasant origin. Since her childhood, she has absorbed the tradition of patriotism and compassion from both her paternal and maternal families.

In her youth, Nguyen Thi Thanh was intelligent, beautiful, virtuous, capable, and quick in communication. Many young men proposed to her, but she refused them all with every excuse, putting aside personal matters to focus on patriotic activities. She had a close relationship with patriot Phan Boi Chau, was active in the patriotic movements of Doi Quyen and Doi Phan, worked as a liaison, and raised money for the insurgents and the Dong Du movement. She fell into the hands of the enemy many times, but thanks to her intelligence and courage, she overcame them all. In 1946, when she learned that President Ho Chi Minh was her younger brother, she went to Hanoi to visit him, then returned to her hometown to live the life of an exemplary citizen.

On March 23, 1954, due to old age and serious illness, she passed away, leaving her neighbors and relatives in mourning.

We are proud of her - a patriotic daughter who devoted her youth to the Vietnamese people.
