Proposed policy for frontline workers and NCC settling abroad
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 16, the Inter-ministerial Working Group (Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) coordinated with the Provincial People's Committee and the Military Command of Nghe An province to organize a conference to discuss, research and propose policies for people with meritorious services residing abroad and frontline laborers participating in the resistance war and war to protect the Fatherland.
Lieutenant General Dao Duy Minh - Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, Head of the Inter-Ministerial Working Group and Comrade Le Xuan Dai, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference. Attending the conference were Major General Tran Tien Dung, Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 4; representatives of departments, branches, sectors and districts, towns and cities in the province.

According to initial statistics, Nghe An has about 117,497 people participating in the frontline labor force (of which about 32,398 participated in the fight against the French; about 61,345 participated in the fight against the Americans; about 9,337 participated in the war to protect the Fatherland; about 14,417 performed international missions). The vast majority of the frontline labor force do not have original records or documents, are old, have poor health, and after participating in the labor force, most of them return to work in their locality, facing many difficulties in life. As for the people with meritorious services from Nghe An who are residing abroad, the province is coordinating with the relevant agencies to continue investigating and verifying.
At the conference, opinions stated: The Party and State's attention to implementing policies and regimes for people with meritorious services residing abroad and the frontline labor force participating in the resistance war and the war to protect the Fatherland is a correct policy, demonstrating the nation's morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", expressing gratitude for the contributions of previous generations who fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the country. At the same time, opinions also pointed out the advantages and difficulties, and proposed solutions to implement policies and regimes for the two above subjects.
Concluding the conference, Lieutenant General Dao Duy Minh highly appreciated the frank and enthusiastic opinions of the delegates, and emphasized: Through the working session with the People's Committee of Nghe An province, the inter-ministerial working delegation has a better grasp of the actual situation in the locality, on that basis, it will study and propose to the Party and State to complete the "Project on regimes and policies for people with meritorious services residing abroad and the frontline civilian labor force participating in the resistance war, the war to protect the Fatherland", in accordance with the direction of Notice No. 24-TB/TW dated May 5, 2011 of the Politburo; Directive of the Prime Minister; Directive of the Minister of National Defense.
