Worries…
(Baonghean) - Early tomorrow morning (June 13), the most anticipated event of millions of football fans around the world will officially take place, which is the opening of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. For more than a month, millions of hearts have been pounding with the round ball and Vietnamese audiences are no exception. However, with V.League and tournaments in the VFF system, there is a constant worry that the 2014 World Cup could cause unpredictable consequences.
Many shortcomings were pointed out by experts such as the fact that during the 2014 World Cup, V.League was still organized normally. Most people thought that this was an unscientific arrangement, because during this time, all attention was on Brazil. Not only the players but also the coaches admitted that they wanted to relax and watch the matches in Brazil.

The stands in V.League are at risk of being empty during the 2014 World Cup. |
In the world and even in countries in the Southeast Asia region, tournaments are also temporarily suspended to focus on the World Cup. The VFF's unusual approach has put teams in a difficult situation. Watching the World Cup while focusing on playing V.League will lead to many problems. Players watch football matches, affecting training and competition. Besides, in the context of Vietnamese football facing many problems, with the World Cup taking place, the audience has more reason to turn their backs on V-League. Coach Le Thuy Hai of B.Binh Duong is a person who strongly opposes the plan to organize V.League in parallel with the World Cup. He believes that there is nowhere like Vietnam and gives an example, if a stand has only a few dozen spectators, where will the motivation for players to play football come from?
Some other experts said that the organizers of V.League were not really professional. They pointed out that the World Cup took place in just over a month and if calculated properly, the organizer, VPF, could completely adjust the match schedule to avoid overlap.
However, the more worrying thing when the World Cup takes place is that the personal lives of the players may be disrupted due to the enticement of bad elements. In the past, many players have "disappeared" after the World Cup or Euro. The story of Dac Khanh is certainly not forgotten. Being a pillar of SLNA, Khanh threw billions of silver into betting at the 2010 World Cup and was then pursued by debtors. After the tournament ended, Dac Khanh quietly packed his backpack and left Nghe An to escape debt. Retiring at the age of 23, Dac Khanh is the most regrettable case for audiences nationwide.
In addition to betting, players during the World Cup also like to show off their ego to polish their names. Some do business, others cooperate in advertising, others take advantage of the time to do personal family things... In general, it is very difficult to ask a player to concentrate fully during the World Cup. Therefore, V.League matches during this time, in addition to being less noticed, the professional quality will almost certainly decrease.
Football teams, typically SLNA, have imposed “martial law” during the 2014 World Cup. However, it is all just a formality, with more of a deterrent effect on young players. We have to wait and see how effective it is, because as mentioned, gambling and social evils are increasingly prevalent and attract players in many forms, so it is very difficult to control.
While millions of people are excited about the 2014 World Cup, football organizers in Vietnam are having a headache because of the bad consequences that could happen from the above event. In addition to the environment and circumstances, the inappropriate way of doing things by VFF is also the reason why V.League is forgotten at this time.
