(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 22, Quynh Luu District held a conference to deploy the summer-autumn crop production plan and deploy the flood and storm prevention plan for 2014.

According to the plan, in the summer-autumn crop of 2014, Quynh Luu will plant 10,550 hectares, of which rice will be 7,600 hectares (summer-autumn crop 5,50 hectares, winter-spring crop 2,100 hectares); corn 800 hectares, vegetables of all kinds 1,000 hectares, beans of all kinds 50 hectares, sesame 300 hectares, sweet potatoes 250 hectares and other plants 450 hectares. The total food output is 44,350 tons, an increase of 13.1% compared to 2013, the average value of the summer-autumn crop is 30 - 33 million VND/ha. The main rice varieties are BC15, VT-NA2, GS9, Nhi Uu 986... In addition, depending on the specific conditions of each commune, it is possible to choose varieties that have been approved by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to be included in the structure, encouraging the use of rice varieties with both high yield and quality such as Thai Xuyen 111, Thien Nguyen Uu 16.

Regarding the flood and storm prevention plan. In 2014, the weather forecast will continue to have many complex and unpredictable developments, with a tendency to increase in intensity, abnormality and danger. Therefore, in addition to mobilizing the entire political system and all resources to carry out flood and storm prevention work, Quynh Luu is also mobilizing forces to inspect and review the quality of all irrigation works, traffic, technical infrastructure, etc. in the area, to have a plan to arrange funding for repairs; communes with fishing boats must accurately inventory the number of vehicles as well as the number of workers participating in fishing; focus on directing production, ensuring all conditions to serve the production of the summer-autumn crop and the winter-spring crop to harvest before the rainy and stormy season; develop plans to ensure security, social order and safety to minimize damage caused by storms and floods.

On this occasion, the District People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 5 groups and 9 individuals who had achievements in production direction in 2013 and 7 groups and 4 individuals who had outstanding achievements in disaster prevention and control in 2013./.
