Supermarkets and markets in Saigon are competing to sell lychees.
Retailers in Ho Chi Minh City have taken measures to support farmers in selling lychees as the fruit's main export market, China, has been disrupted.

Mr. Vo Hoang Anh, Marketing Director of Saigon Co.op, said that Saigon Co.op has helped farmers sell nearly 200 tons of fresh lychees, and expects to sell approximately 500 tons by the end of June. Currently, Co.opmart stores are still boosting lychee sales by increasing display areas and offering discounts.
Mr. Khuat Quang Hung, Director of External Relations at Metro Cash&Carry, also stated that the supermarket distributes over 60 tons of lychees weekly across its entire Metro system. Metro Cash&Carry will continue to purchase lychees until the end of the season.
Similarly, Mr. Ho Quoc Nguyen, Director of Communications at Big C, said that the current average consumption is 5 tons/day/across the entire system. The supermarket is continuing to boost lychee consumption through promotional programs and discounts.
Mr. Nguyen Dang Phu, Deputy Director of Binh Dien wholesale market, said that the amount of lychees arriving at the market has increased by 100% compared to before, with the best quality lychees priced at 18,000 VND/kg. According to Mr. Phu, the wholesale market has provided convenient space for buying, selling, and loading/unloading, and buyers can rent cold storage facilities if needed.
Meanwhile, at retail markets, the price of lychees has also dropped to 20,000-22,000 VND/kg compared to the previous price of 35,000-40,000 VND/kg.
The General Department of Customs has just directed the Customs Departments of Lang Son, Lao Cai, and Ha Giang provinces and cities to create favorable conditions and encourage traders to export lychees through border gates, preventing congestion at border gates and quickly resolving any arising problems.
Accordingly, priority will be given to customs procedures, assigning specialized officials to advise and resolve export procedures for fresh lychees for exporting businesses; organizing goods flow, prioritizing fresh lychees exported through border gates. In addition, coordination with relevant authorities will be implemented to issue Certificates of Origin (C/O) directly at border gates to shorten customs clearance time for this product.
According to statistics from the Lao Cai Customs Department, an average of over 500 tons of lychees are exported to the Chinese market daily through the Lao Cai International Border Gate.
According to what I read in the newspaper.
