Having won Group H after a 1-0 victory over South Korea, Belgium with a perfect record will face the USA, while Algeria (second in Group H) will face a huge challenge from Germany (first in Group G). This is also the first time in 32 years that Algeria will have the chance to meet Germany again.

Of the 16 teams that have made it to this round, 5 are South American. However, the South Americans will soon have to eliminate each other as there are 2 "civil wars": Brazil - Chile and Colombia - Uruguay.

Europe also has 6 teams advancing but there has not been any "civil war" in this continent, while the CONCACAF region has 3 and Africa has 2 (Nigeria and Algeria).

From this round, the World Cup will take place in a knockout format. If the score is tied after 90 minutes, there will be extra time, each half lasting 30 minutes. If the score is still tied after two extra periods, the teams will decide the winner by a penalty shootout.

The 2014 World Cup Round of 16 will take place from August 28 to July 2.

Round of 16 matches:

Brazil - Chile
Netherlands - Mexico
Colombia - Uruguay
Costa Rica - Greece
France - Nigeria
Argentina - Switzerland
Germany - Algeria
Belgium - USA./.
