In recent years, outbreaks of EMS (Early Mortality Syndrome, also known as Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease) have devastated many shrimp farming industries nationwide, and in Nghe An province in particular. During the current hot season, without necessary countermeasures and prevention, mass shrimp mortality is almost inevitable. To minimize shrimp mortality and ensure economic benefits for shrimp farmers, experts at the workshop proposed the following solutions: Strictly adhering to biosecurity systems in shrimp ponds, adjusting pond structure, constructing separate settling and treatment ponds to ensure a settling pond/farming pond ratio of 6/4 to guarantee water supply; reducing stocking density to alleviate stress on shrimp, and stocking larger shrimp.
Simultaneously, the company also introduced CP Vietnam's "Propiotic Farming" clean shrimp farming program. According to this program, after purchasing shrimp larvae, they need to be raised in shelters made of netting, nylon tarpaulin, or walls for 25-30 days. Afterward, they will be transferred to a system of ponds for growing adult shrimp with a biosecurity system including treatment ponds, pest control nets, and a sanitation system for hand and foot disinfection before entering the ponds. This is combined with good pond environment management and care. The advantage of this model is that it reduces the impact of weather during the early stages of shrimp growth, thereby increasing survival rates and improving shrimp health.
