Orange makes orange suffer
(Baonghean)- Recently, 15 households in Dong Tam village, Thach Ngan commune, Con Cuong district were upset when they received a notice from the district Electricity staff that each household had to pay a large amount of electricity bill. Accordingly, the household had to pay at least 1.7 million VND, some households had to pay more than 5 million VND, while these households had paid the full amount of electricity bill to the State every month, according to the VAT electricity bill.
What is more pressing, in early April 2014, when some households had not paid the above amount because the District Power Branch had not explained the reason to customers, the District Power Branch staff arbitrarily cut off their electricity for many days in a row. For example, the families of Le Van Tho, Le Van Giap, Ho Chi Hung... had their electricity cut off for an entire month. In hot weather conditions, although very dissatisfied, these households had to borrow money to pay the District Power Branch, then they could turn on electricity for their family's daily life and production.
Finding out the new cause, Mr. Lo Quang Tuyen, a resident of Dong Tam village, has long been contracted by the District Electricity Branch to record the meter and collect electricity bills every month. Accordingly, every month Mr. Tuyen has the meter reading and pays the electricity bill according to the Electricity bill. However, on March 13, 2014, the staff of Con Cuong Electricity Branch organized an inspection and re-examination of the meter reading work at Dong Tam Transformer Station, discovering that some meters of electricity customers still had a lot of electricity left on the meter. The total remaining output on the meters of 15 households in Dong Tam village was up to more than 21 thousand kWh.
The reason for the remaining electricity output on the electricity meters of 15 households, according to the report of the Con Cuong District Electricity Branch, is that Mr. Lo Quoc Tuyen did not read the actual index on the electricity meter for a long time, but arbitrarily recorded the estimated electricity number of each household, leading to the above consequences. In principle, these households are not at fault, but the main responsibility lies with Mr. Lo Quoc Tuyen. Recently, the leaders of the Con Cuong Electricity Branch, the District Department of Industry and Trade, the Thach Ngan commune government and representatives of 15 households of Dong Tam village held a meeting to find solutions to overcome the above consequences. Accordingly, the households clearly understood the nature of the incident, Mr. Tuyen accepted his responsibility, and the District Electricity Branch also accepted responsibility for shortcomings in the process of managing electricity in the locality. To overcome the consequences, the District Electricity Branch calculated the lowest electricity price for the people, and the households agreed to pay the remaining amount to the District Electricity, deducted gradually every month.
This shows that the local electricity management of the Con Cuong District Electricity Branch is still irresponsible in the work of checking electricity in the area. It is necessary to learn from experience to avoid the phenomenon of "the tangerine makes the orange suffer" as in Dong Tam village.
