Vietnam U19 star recreates legendary 'panenka' shot

Vietnam U19 star Cong Phuong delighted fans with his "Panenka" penalty kick in a 4-0 win over Singapore in the 2014 Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy in Brunei.

In the 51st minute, Cong Phuong broke through the penalty area and was fouled. Number 10 himself stepped up to the penalty spot. He ran, feinted, fooled the Singapore goalkeeper before skillfully chipping the ball, scoring the third goal for U19 Vietnam.

Panenka's shot later became famous and was recreated by many famous players such as Zinedine Zidane, Andrea Pirlo, Francesco Totti... A player must be very confident to dare to take a shot with a high failure rate and being ridiculed. Most recently, Atletico Madrid's center-back Miranda also took a shot like this, but the ball went over the bar.

Cong Phuong's goal against U21 Singapore may not have brought an impression of class (he is only 19 years old). But it showed the confidence of the player wearing the number 10 shirt. That is also the confidence that U19 Vietnam showed throughout the first 90 minutes at the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2014.
