The pilots of a fully loaded Airbus 320 were astonished to witness a "flying man" whizzing past their aircraft at an altitude of over 1,066 meters.

The mysterious man flew within 100 meters of the Airbus aircraft, baffling the pilots about how he was moving through the air, as no one could see the parachute supporting him.

Remarkably, the pilots didn't even see any sign of the strange man on the radar screen. More thorough checks also revealed no paragliders, skydivers, or hot air balloonists in the area at that time.

Witnesses reported that the "flying man" suddenly appeared as the Airbus 320 was flying over Macclesfield and preparing to land at Manchester Airport in England. He was therefore nicknamed "The Superman of Macclesfield".

The Airprox Board, the agency that investigates near-misses in British airspace, stated: "They (the pilots) first saw the object a few hundred meters away at the 11 o'clock position, about 60-90 meters above the aircraft. The object moved downwards, to the left of the aircraft, at a distance of 100-200 meters."

The crew only saw the object whizz by, so there was no time to take evasive action, and they assumed it was someone using a parachute. However, none of them remembered seeing a parachute.

The official report states that the incident occurred on Friday, June 13th. However, the authors acknowledge that this was an "unfortunate" and "disturbing" incident because there was no way to verify what they reported.

The Airprox Board further emphasized that the crew was also unsure whether it wasn't a human-shaped balloon. According to aviation expert Chris Yates, it remains a complete mystery.
