After a heavy 1-8 defeat against Thailand - the Southeast Asian futsal powerhouse at the 27th SEA Games, the Vietnamese men's futsal team decided to terminate their contract with coach Sergio Gargelli to join a more famous and talented coach. The chosen person was Spanish coach Bruno Garcia, a country with the world's leading futsal. The decision made indoor football fans extremely happy, because many people knew his reputation and successes. Bruno Garcia is a member of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (REEF) in charge of futsal, he won the Ramon Cobo award - for the best futsal coach of the RFEF. He has been successful as a coach in many countries around the world such as bringing the Hangzhou Zhejiang Dragons team to 2nd place at the Chinese Futsal Championship; leading the Peru team...

With his reputation and experience, after less than a year, he has fundamentally changed the "face" of Vietnamese futsal. The players have supported each other very well, fought for the ball fiercely and effectively in defense. In attack, Coach Bruno Garcia's students always play pressing against all opponents with the ability to move very flexibly and changeably. Along with that is the awareness of following tactics and applying tactical diagrams at each time, against different opponents, all very skillfully. At the 2014 Asian Futsal Finals, the Vietnamese futsal team caused an "earthquake" when they won a ticket to the quarterfinals.

At the Southeast Asian Championship held at the end of September, the Vietnamese team made a big splash when they successively defeated Myanmar with a score of 6-1, the Philippines 11-1, and Laos 18-0. Notably, in the match against Thailand - the 4th ranked team in Asia and the team that dominated this tournament with 9 championships after 10 times of organization, Trong Luan, Quoc Nam and his teammates made a historic victory with a score of 2-0. This victory is extremely important, because in the 10 years since the birth of Vietnamese futsan, our indoor football has never been able to defeat the "Thais" and thereby affirm its remarkable progress, with a strong, modern but also very elegant style with the appearance of Spanish futsan.

With remarkable progress in recent times, specifically winning the bronze medal at the Southeast Asian Championship, especially the 3-2 victory over Brazil at the Ho Chi Minh City International Tournament, the Vietnam futsal team was invited by the host country Brazil to participate in the 2014 Futsal Grand Prix. This is not only a great honor for coach Bruno Garcia and his team but also the pride of Vietnamese futsal lovers. Tomorrow (November 13), the Vietnam team will face the reigning world champion Brazil. Regardless of the result, this tournament will be a rewarding experience and from there, the Vietnamese futsal players will have more lessons to reach new heights and successes for the young futsal of the country.
