Announcement of the boundary location of Dung Quat Thermal Power Plant construction

This morning (October 4), at the People's Committee of Binh Dong Commune, Binh Son District (Quang Ngai), Dung Quat Economic Zone Management Board held a ceremony to announce the boundary location for the construction of Semcorp Thermal Power Plant (Dung Quat Thermal Power Plant).

The Dung Quat Thermal Power Plant Project is invested by Sembcorp Utilities Pte (Singapore) in Dung Quat Economic Zone under the BOT form, with a total capital of more than 2.5 billion USD. The plant has a capacity of 1,200 MW and when put into operation, will provide 7 billion kWh of electricity each year.

The total land area planned for the project is about 134 hectares, including: The main factory area of ​​74 hectares, located west of Dung Quat Shipyard in Dung Quat Eastern Industrial Park (Binh Dong commune, Binh Son district); slag dump of about 60 hectares, located south of Dung Quat Shipyard.

In phase 1, Quang Ngai province plans to hand over clean land in the first quarter of 2016 and phase 2 in the fourth quarter of 2016. It is expected that unit 1 of the plant will be commercially operated in September 2020 and the entire plant will be operational in March 2021.
