Sunflowers are grown to provide nutritious food for the cattle of TH Dairy Food Joint Stock Company. In 2010, the company only planted 2 hectares on a trial basis, but after seeing that this flower species was suitable for the fertile basalt soil, producing large flowers with firm seeds, the company continued to expand to nearly 30 hectares in 2014. Due to its concentrated cultivation and location next to the Ho Chi Minh Highway, it has attracted the attention of tourists. In a very short time, a "strong wave" of interest about the sunflower field in Phu Quy has arisen on the Internet and social media platforms like Facebook. According to TH Dairy Food Joint Stock Company, in recent days, an average of more than 1000 tourists have visited the sunflower field each day. On Saturday morning, December 6th alone, nearly 2000 people were present in Nghia Son commune to admire the beauty of the sunflowers.
The leaders of TH Dairy Food Joint Stock Company mobilized staff and workers to directly guide visitors to the flower fields to take photos and videos. Everyone was free to take pictures and videos without any fees. Vehicles were also provided free of charge by TH Company staff. Despite the hard work, the company staff seemed to share in the excitement of the visitors. Ms. Ta Thi Phuc, Agricultural Supervisor of TH Dairy Food Joint Stock Company, said: “We have mobilized a security team to be on duty 24/7 to remind visitors to protect the flowers, maintain order, and provide free parking. In the future, the company will expand the area, as a spiritual gift to everyone, hoping that people will experience the freshness and purity of TH milk in Nghia Dan.”
Thanks to the attention of the online community and the people, the sunflower field is opening up potential for tourism and service development in Nghia Dan. In recent days, after visiting Nghia Dan to admire the sunflower field, tourists have sought out and enjoyed famous specialties of Phu Quy such as Vinh oranges, or visited traditional villages such as the sugarcane syrup pressing village in Nghia Hung commune; the broom-making village of Hoa Hoi in Nghia Hoi commune; and admired the vast forests of coffee, rubber, watermelon, and sugarcane plantations… It can be said that the sunflower field is giving Nghia Dan a new color; the sunflower has worked wonders on the land of Phu Quy.
