81 people died in traffic accidents in the first three days of 2015

Mr. Nguyen Trong Thai, Chief of Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee, said that on January 3, 2015, there were 61 accidents nationwide, killing 34 people and injuring 38 people.

“Compared to the first two days of the new year 2015, traffic accidents increased rapidly in both the number of cases, deaths and injuries,” said Mr. Thai.

Thus, according to statistics from the National Traffic Safety Committee, after 3 days of New Year's holiday, there were 160 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 81 people and injuring 97 others.

Specifically, according to a quick report from the National Traffic Safety Committee, on the third day of the New Year holiday (January 3), there were 61 road traffic accidents, killing 34 people and injuring 38, including 22 collisions, injuring 15 people. There were no traffic accidents on railways or waterways.

During the day, traffic police forces nationwide inspected and handled 4,726 cases of traffic safety violations, collecting VND1 billion 967 million for the State Treasury; temporarily detaining 14 cars and 1,244 motorbikes.

Also on January 3, through the hotline, the National Traffic Safety Committee received about 18 complaints from people about overloading, carrying more people than the prescribed number, picking up and dropping off passengers at the wrong place, increasing ticket prices (Hong Ngu Ferry - Dong Thap; Kien Giang - Vung Tau; Hanoi - Quang Ninh; Nha Trang - Saigon), some information advising on new penalties for overloading violations, and complaints about increasing ticket prices were promptly handled.

According to Vietnam+
