Binh Dinh Province proposes to replace contractor for construction of National Highway 1A

February 2, 2015 16:48

On February 1, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province announced that Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of this province, signed a document requesting the Minister of Transport to urgently review the capacity of contractors currently constructing the project to expand National Highway 1A through the province to handle contractors who do not have sufficient capacity.

In the immediate future, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province has requested the Ministry to replace the contractor, a subsidiary of Thanh An Corporation, the contractor of Package 7 of the National Highway 1A expansion project through Phu My district (Binh Dinh), because it does not meet the requirements for construction equipment, causing public discontent. In addition, the province also requested the contractors of National Highway 1A to urgently repair the road surface of the sections damaged by construction to serve the people during the spring and New Year holidays.

In the past, many people in Phu My district have received compensation but refused to hand over the land, causing difficulties and delays in the construction of the National Highway 1A expansion project. On January 19, at the conference summarizing 2014 and deploying tasks for 2015 of the Ministry of Transport, Minister Dinh La Thang requested Binh Dinh province to hand over clean land to the construction units of this project before Tet, and not to make "empty promises". On January 27, 28 and 29, the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Binh Dinh province mobilized forces to coordinate with Project Management Board 2 (under the Ministry of Transport) to organize a simultaneous campaign to protect the construction of the National Highway 1A expansion project through Phu My district and signed a record of completion of the handover of land to the construction units.
