Smiling face in the universe

According to Live Science, the galaxy cluster is named SDSS J1038+4849. It has two bright dots that look like eyes, a white dot nose, and curved lines of light forming a mouth and facial outline.
According to Einstein's general theory of relativity, massive objects can actually bend the space around them. If light passes through this region of space, it will be deflected, amplified, or distorted, much like passing through a lens. In this case, the cluster of galaxies and distant light sources are aligned with the Hubble telescope. The two bright "eyes" are two galaxies located far apart.
A galaxy cluster is one of the largest objects in the universe, capable of producing gravitational lensing. This astronomical phenomenon occurs when light emitted from an object is deflected along its path by gravity as it passes near other celestial bodies. The light is bent by the gravitational forces surrounding it, creating a ring-like shape resembling a giant smiley face.
Astronomers look for signs of gravitational lensing to identify massive, unseen objects such as black holes, galaxy clusters, or dark matter.
