Yen Thanh: Mobilizing resources for building new rural areas reached 12,405 billion VND.

(Baonghean.vn) - On March 24, the People's Committee of Yen Thanh district held a conference to summarize the implementation of democratic regulations and review the first four years of the National Target Program for building new rural areas.

Recognizing that implementing grassroots democracy regulations is one of the important contents contributing to the success of the new rural development goals in the district, Yen Thanh district has focused on and strengthened leadership and guidance; linking this content with the National target program for new rural development.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of the district, Nguyen Vuong Ngoc, presented awards to outstanding collectives in the construction of new rural areas, period 2011-2014.

After four years of implementation, Yen Thanh district has successfully achieved its basic goals: rural new-style construction planning projects have been established and approved for all 38 communes; the inter-commune, inter-village, and village road systems have been gradually and comprehensively invested in. To date, 163.11 km of asphalt roads, 184.32 km of concrete roads, and 61 km of roadside irrigation canals have been constructed. The irrigation system has developed, ensuring sufficient water supply for production, daily life, and proactive irrigation for over 90% of the rice-growing area. Currently, 80 schools have met national standards; 80% of communes and towns have met national standards for healthcare. Over the four years, a total of 12,405 billion VND was mobilized, including over 1 trillion VND from the state budget, over 2 trillion VND from businesses, 1,171 billion VND from people's contributions, and the remainder from other sources.

In implementing the National Target Program for building new rural areas, with the decisive involvement of the entire political system, the number of criteria met in all communes has increased. Currently, the entire district has 7 communes that have met all 19 criteria, 7 communes that have met 15 to 18 criteria, and 12 communes that have met 10 to 14 criteria.

In 2015, Yen Thanh district strived to have 6 more communes meet the new rural standards, with the remaining communes increasing by 2 to 4 criteria and no commune meeting fewer than 5 criteria.
