In Professor Do Tat Loi's book "Vietnamese Medicinal Plants and Herbs," it is recorded that garlic has a pungent taste, a warm nature, and is slightly toxic, acting on the liver and stomach meridians. Its effects include clearing heat, detoxifying, disinfecting, treating diarrhea, dysentery, lung nodules, boils, phlegm, abdominal distension, difficulty urinating and defecating, and clearing nasal passages... It should not be used for conditions of yin deficiency, internal heat, pregnancy, nasal pain, toothache, throat pain, or nephritis.
The effects of garlic wine
Garlic contains three main active compounds: allicin, liallyl sulfide, and ajoene. Allicin is the most potent. Allicin is a very strong natural antibiotic, even stronger than penicillin. In addition, garlic also contains calcium, phosphorus, selenium, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and manganese. Garlic tincture has the following effects:
ButDisinfectFor certain bacterial diseases such as bacillary dysentery, typhoid fever, pneumonia, meningitis, etc., garlic tincture has a bacteriostatic or bactericidal effect.
ButCancer preventionGarlic tincture is a powerful antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals that damage cells and preventing the formation and growth of malignant tumors. Garlic contains a lot of germanium. Currently, scientists are researching germanium as a chemotherapeutic agent against cancer. Germanium also has the effect of strengthening the immune system of cancer patients.
ButLowering blood fatGarlic tincture reduces blood lipids by decreasing the absorption of LDL-cholesterol (bad cholesterol) through the intestinal mucosa and increasing cholesterol excretion, reducing blood cholesterol levels and cholesterol buildup on blood vessel walls. It is effective in preventing high blood pressure, angina, myocardial infarction, and stroke.
ButPreventing blood clotsThe essential oils in garlic tincture have an anti-platelet aggregation effect, thus preventing the formation of blood clots and protecting against myocardial infarction and stroke.
ButCardiovascular protectionGarlic tincture contains prostaglandin I2-like compounds (prostacyclin) that both inhibit platelet aggregation and strongly dilate blood vessels. This reduces platelet-induced thrombosis, helping to lower the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and hypertension. The compound ajoene reduces fibrinogen levels in the blood, further decreasing the risk of thrombosis.
In the mechanism of atherosclerosis formation, free radicals increase the oxidation of LDL-cholesterol in the blood vessel walls, forming plaque that hardens the arteries. Garlic tincture prevents this process thanks to its powerful antioxidants.
ButOther effectsDrinking garlic wine helps fight stomach cancer, skin cancer, reduce arthritis, beautify the skin, and prolong life.
