"Folk song girl"

(Baonghean) - From the Nghe An Folk Song Awards Ceremony to the Vietnam Folk Song Festival, Binh Duong - a "child" artist from Phuc Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) left a deep impression on the audience with her strong, soulful and emotional voice. Listening to Binh Duong sing, one would think that this little girl was born for folk songs, for the soulful Vi and Giam melodies of her hometown...

I met Binh Duong when she had just returned from the Vietnam Folk Song Festival in the North Central region. The 3-day trip to Hue with a long journey and 2 consecutive performances did not seem to make Binh Duong tired. Because close to the performance day, her father, mother, older sister and younger sister took the bus from Yen Thanh to Hue to cheer her on. This was also the first long trip with the whole family, so even though the time was tight, she did not have time to go to the Imperial City, did not have time to go to Khai Dinh Tomb, did not have time to see Trang Tien Bridge, Binh Duong was still very happy...

Binh Duong started participating in the school's art movement since he was in grade 3. Teacher Mai, who taught music and also mentored Duong, was very impressed with her student because Duong was very "bold" on stage and quickly learned the lyrics and melodies. After that, Duong was selected for the district team to participate in the folk song festival, cluster 1, and excellently won the gold medal. The performance "Phu tu tinh tham" with its extensive lyrics and difficult intonation, but with his sweet and soulful voice, Duong caught the "green eye" of People's Artist Hong Luu. The first time sitting on stage listening to Duong sing this song, she could not hold back her tears... The feeling of an artist who had been struggling for many years to find a "successor" finally found a "soulmate"...

The opportunity to come to the big stages of Binh Duong started from there. As for People's Artist Hong Luu, since discovering Binh Duong, Duong has been given special favor. Duong eats, stays, and sleeps in People's Artist Hong Luu's house every time he goes to Vinh to stage a program... When performing far away, he is guided, mentored, and taken care of by People's Artist Hong Luu... Perhaps that is why at the ceremony honoring Nghe An's Vi Giam folk songs, the performance of artist Hong Luu along with Binh Duong and the young artists received the most praise.

Following Binh Duong during his participation in the Vietnam Folk Song Festival that took place at the end of April in Hue, artist Nguyen Ngoc Quyet, Head of the Nghe An delegation, shared: At this age, it is too early to say whether Binh Duong can pursue a folk singing career or not, but Binh Duong is a rare case, he has real talent. Listening to Binh Duong sing songs like: "Phu tu tinh tham", "Loi me hat", "Khuc hat dan ca"... listeners can feel the singer's emotions, see the way the lyrics of the song penetrate the performer... At this festival, Duong is the youngest artist in the North Central region, but he is very independent and agile. Before the official performance, knowing that he had a cold, Duong immediately met the head of the delegation to ask for medicine... afraid that the illness would be serious and affect the program.

In particular, in the Binh Duong family, Anh Nguyet's older sister, who is in 8th grade this year, is also talented in the genre of Vi and Giam folk songs. In 2014, after winning first prize at the School Folk Song Festival, Nguyet was specially admitted to Nghe An College of Culture and Arts. Having two daughters, both of whom are musically talented and have achieved certain success, many people have advised the family to let their children compete in singing competitions on television. Mr. Nguyen Phuc Anh, the father of the two children, confided: "I want my children to pursue folk music because this is an art form rich in humanity; it helps each person live a useful and responsible life."

Binh Duong and Anh Nguyet's family are also very proud because despite participating in many festivals, both Duong and Nguyet are very good students, both are class presidents, team leaders, and have been excellent students for many years in a row, excellent students of the district... As for Binh Duong, at the age of 10, there are certainly many opportunities ahead of him. However, at this time, for Duong, folk songs are like "a game" where he can passionately sing, passionately express his passion. That is also the simplest reason to explain why Binh Duong can sing folk songs so easily, as if not on stage but singing right from his soul...
