The project has a total investment of nearly 12 billion VND, restoring the original state of the relic including the wooden frame system and roof truss, gold-painted panel walls, and decorative carvings covered in silver and gold; roof covered with gold-glazed yin-yang tiles and curved roof decoration...

Phu Van Lau is a two-story wooden structure, built in the 17th year of Gia Long (1818) with the function of posting important royal decrees and edicts of the Emperor and the Nguyen Dynasty, and also the place to announce the results of examinations organized by the court. Under the kings, this was also the place to hold entertainment and banquets on the occasion of longevity celebrations.

Phu Van Lau is located on Dung Dao axis, the main axis of Hue Imperial City. From the Flag Tower looking out to the Perfume River, there are two architectural works that adorn the face of Hue Imperial City. One of the two works is Phu Van Lau (phu: display, van: literature, lau: tower - the tower for displaying royal documents).

The remaining structure is a small pavilion located next to the Perfume River called Nghinh Luong Dinh. Together with the complex of Hue Monuments, Phu Van Lau with its multifaceted values of history, culture, and architectural art was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage in 1993.
