Residents are "thirsty" because of broken water pipes.

For several days now, residents of Hung Chinh commune (Vinh City) have been facing a persistent water shortage. In the last two months alone, hamlets 4, 5, and 6 of the commune have experienced continuous water outages. The cause has been identified as damage to the main water supply pipeline leading to residents' homes caused by the construction unit's use of excavators.

A resident of Hamlet 5, Hung Chinh Commune, expressed their frustration: "Previously, water cuts occurred occasionally, but recently the clean water supply has been completely cut off. The prolonged heatwave combined with the constant water shortages is causing us great distress. Even though we live on the outskirts of the city, our entire hamlet lacks piped water, forcing us to buy clean water at a high price. If it hadn't been for the recent rain, which allowed us to collect rainwater, we would have already submitted a petition."

Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Chinh commune, said: During the construction process, some water pipes were damaged. The commune has agreed with the contractor to repair the damaged water pipes as they are completed.

Ms. Cao Thi Thanh Huong, Deputy Director of Hung Nguyen Clean Water Center, stated: "Before implementing the drainage ditch project, we requested the commune and the construction unit to raise the pipelines to prevent damage during construction. However, the commune disagreed and said they would repair whatever was damaged. Immediately after the start of construction, the pipeline system was damaged, and the responsibility lies with the People's Committee of Hung Chinh commune. Currently, about 1000 meters of the main pipeline are damaged, and we are in the process of replacing them."

It is suggested that the construction unit, the Hung Nguyen Clean Water Center, and the Hung Chinh commune government need to coordinate closely to ensure sufficient water supply to meet the minimum needs of the people.
