Actively innovate in resource extraction technology.
(Baonghean) - Mineral extraction and processing activities have impacts on the living environment such as water pollution, dust, and noise. To mitigate these issues, some businesses have implemented quite effective environmental protection solutions.
Although diamond wire saw cutting machines require a high initial investment, they ensure high safety in the workplace, minimize manpower and labor costs, prevent resource waste, and significantly reduce environmental pollution from stone dust and noise. Taking advantage of this, Long Anh Private Enterprise in Tho Hop commune, Quy Hop district, has invested billions of VND in diamond wire cutting machines. Meanwhile, Toan Thang Co., Ltd. (also in Quy Hop) has invested over ten billion VND over the past three years in modern Italian equipment for quarrying and processing stone.
Currently, the company uses automated rock drilling robots, capable of drilling in all kinds of challenging terrain. They also utilize diamond wire cutting technology (from Italy). Ms. Tran Thi Khanh Toan, the company's director, added: "Using diamond wire cutting technology not only ensures workplace safety but also improves product quality, ensuring the stone products are free from cracks and meeting export contracts for foreign countries." In 2015, the company continued to invest in building a stone processing area using Italian technology, primarily equipping it with block cutting machines, sawing machines, grinding machines, etc.

In the tin smelting and processing sector, An Vinh Mineral Processing Joint Stock Company in Quy Hop has made a breakthrough by investing in a modern tin smelting machinery line worth over 20 billion VND. Mr. Dau Anh Duc, the company's director, stated: The production line achieves a capacity of 520 tons of tin per year, and thanks to modern technology, the ore reaches a quality of 99.75% (suitable for export worldwide). Environmental treatment is comprehensive and integrated, from air emissions to wastewater, including a wastewater treatment system using a recycling system and air emissions filtered by fabric bags…
Mr. Tran Manh Hung, an official from the Quy Hop District Department of Natural Resources and Environment, added: "There are nearly 100 operating units in the district, of which 6-7 have invested in advanced mining and processing technology, using diamond wire for stone cutting. This is a fundamental solution to increase labor productivity, lower product costs, minimize negative impacts such as vibration, noise, dust, and toxic gases... reduce adverse environmental impacts, and minimize workplace accidents and incidents."
For its construction stone quarries, Pha Ngoc Joint Stock Company in My Son commune, Do Luong district, invested nearly 4 billion VND in building a water reservoir to directly irrigate the stone crushing plant and residential roads. The company also allocated 300 million VND to plant 1.5 hectares of various trees around the quarry, thus reducing the amount of stone dust released into residential areas during operation. Mr. Trinh Van Long, the company's director, added: The company is investing approximately 1 million USD to purchase a stone crushing machinery line from South Korea. This type of machinery minimizes noise and dust, and is expected to be operational in 2016.
The province currently has over 130 active mineral mines. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment is coordinating with relevant agencies to inspect and rectify mineral exploitation practices while ensuring environmental protection. Accordingly, mineral processing must utilize modern, environmentally friendly technologies to produce high-value products. Mineral mining and processing projects will only be considered and licensed after an investment project has been approved and evaluated by the State-level and relevant agencies.
