Nghia Dan: Many households are good at production and business

(Baonghean) - In recent years, with dynamism and creativity, the Farmers' Association of Nghia Dan district has effectively implemented the movement "Farmers compete in production and good business", thereby creating a spreading influence in economic development with many models generating income of hundreds of millions of VND each year.

We visited the family of Mr. Dao Van Hung in Nam Kim hamlet, one of the good production and business models of Nghia Long commune (Nghia Dan). Previously, Mr. Hung's family situation was very difficult, his wife died early, he had many children, no land, lack of capital for production, so his family struggled to find a suitable direction for economic development. Since joining the farmers' association, being propagandized and mobilized to change the structure of crops and livestock, and participating in training courses on transferring science and technology has helped him change his way of thinking and doing. After the commune Farmers' Association stood up to guarantee a loan from the district's Social Policy Bank, he rented a machine to dig a pond to raise fish, above the bank, built a barn to raise pigs and chickens. With his industrious, studious and well-cared nature, his family's pig herd has grown rapidly. Currently, the barn always has a stable number of 50 to 60 pigs, the chicken flock is always rotated, maintaining 300 pigs, selling 3 to 4 batches each year, earning over 250 million VND. Mr. Hung said: "In addition to being diligent and willing to learn, we also have to be bold in changing and investing in order to be effective. Up to now, the family has a stable income, the children have jobs, all thanks to this pond and barn model."

Super sweet sugarcane model of Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung, Cat Mong hamlet, Nghia Hieu commune (Nghia Dan).

In Nghia Hieu commune, after the 5th Party Congress of the commune, term 2015 - 2020, a thematic resolution on socio-economic development was developed, close to reality. The resolution was deployed to each Party cell, each residential area, each mass organization, mobilizing people to respond and participate. In particular, in agricultural production, focusing on converting the structure of crop and livestock varieties, introducing new varieties with high productivity and quality into production. The family of Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung in Cat Mong hamlet is one of many households that have successfully implemented the model of converting crop varieties. With the planting of 1 hectare of super sweet sugarcane, at harvest time, the price of sugarcane is over 3,000 VND/kg, calculating that 1 hectare of sugarcane brings in an income of over 100 million VND. Mr. Trung shared: “Previously, on this land area, my family also grew sugarcane but only planted low-yield sugarcane varieties such as Roc and MI. After the Commune Farmers' Association took me to visit the super-sugarcane growing model in Nghia Thang Commune, I saw that this sugarcane variety has the advantages of beautiful plants, few pests and diseases, high sugar content, and is favored by both factories and consumers in the market, so my family bought the variety to grow, and now its economic efficiency has been confirmed.”

With specific methods, in recent times, the Farmers' Association of Nghia Hieu commune has promoted the movement of converting suitable crops and livestock. Models of getting rich in their homeland from sugarcane and orange trees have appeared in many localities. Many households have boldly invested in industrial livestock farming models, farms with a herd size of 300 - 500 pigs. Thanks to that, the income of local people here reached 35 million VND/person/year, the number of rich and well-off households in the commune is increasing, the poor households decreased to 2.06% in 2014. Mr. Vo Quang Hoa, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Nghia Dan district added: "In order for these movements to develop sustainably and expand in the area, in recent times, the Farmers' Association of the district has focused on widely disseminating the purpose and meaning of the emulation movement for good production and business to 25 communes and towns. During the implementation process, the association has utilized capital sources from local banks, loans from the production development support fund from the Central to the district with more than 1.8 billion VND for 98 households to borrow. Along with that, every year the association also coordinates with functional agencies to organize training, transfer science and technology to members to apply in production. With appropriate solutions, many members have had the opportunity to develop the economy, the number of good production and business households at all levels is increasing, year by year In 2014, the whole district had 525 households achieving the title of good farmers and businessmen at the provincial level; at the district level there were 1,120 households.

Through the effective implementation of the emulation movement for good production and business, the material and spiritual life of members has been improved, thereby actively participating in the movement to build new rural areas. These practical activities increasingly affirm the role and position of the Farmers' Association in local movements, contributing to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction, promoting socio-economic development, and improving the lives of farmers.
